Now accepting applications for summer 2025 and for the academic year 2025/26.

Living in Ely

More than just a university residence, Ely offers students a ‘home away from home’ where a spirit of family is fostered. We organise various activities throughout the year designed to complement a student’s studies and enhance your time in college and to help students develop important life skills and to see their future professional life as a way to serve society.

Admissions

Students who are thinking about the possibility of applying to stay in Ely are welcome to visit the centre by arrangement (with their family if they would like). They will be shown around the centre and introduced to other residents.

Fees

Fees are €7,950 for a 30 week academic year, paid in two instalments (€3,975 in September and €3,975 in January). This includes a single room, bed linen, meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), personal laundry, all utilities, wifi and use of the study facilities, sitting rooms and conference room. Residents staying for longer, either side of the 30 week period, need to pay a weekly rate of €265 for any extra weeks or part thereof (there is no day-rate).

Who may apply?

We welcomes students from all social, ethnic and religious backgrounds. We do, however, have some basic requirements. Most important is that you want to contribute to the homely atmosphere we foster in Ely and have a keen desire to learn and grow as a person as well as a student. We expect students to participate in some household chores and to take good care of their bedroom and shared areas of the house, keeping it clean, tidy and pleasant for the team that help run the centre.
We are a male only residence (although we have two sister residences for women - Glenard and Rathmore) and we only admit students between the ages of 18 and 26, and we can offer places for language school students during the summer months (June and July).
